What is a Connection Group?

Connection Groups are here for anyone seeking discipleship at Refuge City Church. Whether you're a first-time guest or pursuing membership, we would love to help you get involved.

Connection Groups are small communities of 3-4 that meet for 6 weeks. They are the first step toward membership at Refuge City Church & are an intentional way to see what values we as a church hold most dear. If you are not seeking membership but would still like discipleship, a Connection Group is where you should go.

Getting Started

1. Fill out a Connect Card on Sunday or contact the church office through the link below.

2. Once enough people are interested, a Connection Group leader will reach out to you to setup a time for your group to begin meeting.

3. Download & read through the Connection Handbook for your group.

After the Group

We hope that the group was a grace to you. If you are still interested in pursuing membership, please contact the church office to setup a time to interview with an Elder. We also ask that you read the following documents in preparation for your interview. These are simply our Statement of Faith, our Covenant & our Church Constitution:

Doxa is the greek word for "glory". At Refuge the foundation of all our values is the Glory of God: that means that in everything we do we're constantly striving to not do it now for our own recognition, or for our own success: but for the recognition of God and the success of His Kingdom.

Because of that, we want to equip our members, and every person who walks through the doors of our church, to do that better: and one of the way we do that is through our Doxa Groups. Doxa groups are groups of 3 to 4 people who get together and study the bible, pray, and wrestle with sin: all in the effort to better love and treasure Jesus Christ.

These groups are only available to members, but for non-members interested in being a part of a small group we offer Connection Groups: which take on a similar task by traveling through the story of the Bible in order to better understand the foundations of Christianity and how our values are informed by them.

For more information about either please send an email to info@rccdayton.org and someone will be in touch with you to let you know more details.

Stick for Six

It can be tough to find a church home, particularly if you only visit once or twice. We encourage you to stick around for six weeks to see if Refuge Church is the right place for you. If, after six weeks, you realize that we’re not the fit for you, we’d love to help you find a church where you can connect.

Here are a few practical steps you can take to get to know us and get connected.

  1. Fill out a Connection Card in a Gathering or through our website. Stick with us for 6 weeks to get to know us.

  2. View the About Us page to learn more about our church and listen to our Vision Series.

  3. Come by the Hospitality Table on Sunday and pick up some info about our church.

  4. Get coffee with one of our elders. It's simple to setup and we'd love to meet you. Just email us.

  5. Attend a Refuge Community. These are an easy way to see our core values as a church lived out & to meet other church members.
